Leah Rock Climbing

Passions

Physical activity is a necessity for good physical health, good bone structure, a clear mind and emotional health. It is also a key anti-aging strategy. But everyone has different gifts, interests, and abilities so there are no clear cut rules on what works and what doesn't. Some people find the structure of a scheduled class helps them stay on track, some people rely on friends to be a "buddy system" for them and work out together, some people like the peace of solo sports such as cycling or hiking, and some just get out whenever they can to run, golf, kayak etc. Whatever you do, make sure it's something you LOVE because then you will be drawn to do it as often as you can.

Try to do something active for an hour a day (for kids it should be 2 hours). It doesn't have to be all at once. A half hour walk in the morning, and a half hour walk at night is ok too!

I recently took up rock climbing. It is something I have wanted to do all my life and just didn't know how to get started. With the help of a friend who "taught me the ropes" I am now enjoying, no, LOVING rock climbing and get onto the mountain as often as I can. When it's raining I can still hike and enjoy the outdoors but I know that I have found my passion and look forward to many years of climbing….proving that you are rarely too old to take up a new hobby, sport, or passion.

Email me with your activity passions (yes, gardening counts!!!) and send me some pictures if you like. I'll post them here.
